Moomin Winter Edition – 80 Years of Moomin Stories

It all began with Tove Jansson's first Moomin story, "Comet in Moominland," which was published in 1945. She wrote the story during World War II to comfort herself during dark times, and it reflects the reality of millions of people who were fleeing and seeking safety.

The story follows Moominmamma and Moomintroll, who are looking for a new home and the missing Moominpappa. Eventually, they find Moominvalley, where there stands a tall blue Moominhouse – a happy place where everyone is welcome. The Moominhouse symbolizes safety, protection, and community – universal needs that are as important today as they were 80 years ago. The door is always open.
